Welcome, I'm Whitney.
I chose a career in social work because I believe in the social justice principles that guide it. Our choices, moods and behaviors are a result of living in a system, a family, a culture. My interventions are guided by intersectionality and awareness of each person in their environment.
In my work with children and families I lead from an attachment/interpersonal neurobiology lens, when we meet I will gather information about a parents' own history and how it effects current functioning. I'll talk with you about your child's temperament, when you feel most connected to them and when you feel like you want to throw in the towel. I know the best outcomes are a result of working collaboratively, so I'll work with your child and with you.
Prior to starting my own practice, I worked in community mental health with children and families many who were facing intergenerational poverty, abuse and mental illness. Throughout my career I've worked with with refugees, people with chronic illness, children in foster care, and adults with serious and chronic mental health diagnosis. Additionally, I have had both personal and clinical training in working with those experiencing infertility.
What an incredible honor it is to witness my clients face vulnerability and work to make sense of it. I'd love to join you on your own journey.
