Hello there, I’m M’Recia (pronounced like “Teresa” with an M). Thank you for taking the time to get to know me.
I have been fascinated by people for as long as I can remember. When I was a teenager, I would come home from school, log onto the computer with the intention of doing homework, and lose myseling for hours reading articles on psychology and human behavior. When I had the opportunity to take a real-life psychology class in high school, I jumped at the opportunity to craft a model of a neuron in the human brain out of buttons and glitter glue and to bring my family dog to school for a demonstration on behavioral conditioning. My dream became putting my passion into practice by becoming a clinical social worker.
I love being a therapist. I am very extroverted and thrive on the energy created by forming a connection with another person. I am also deeply curious and my desire to know more never seems to be satisfied. You can usually find me with my nose in a book soaking up all the information I can from my never-ending reading list. I have special interest in attachment, trauma, neurobiology, family systems, and somatic practices. I have personal experience with infertility and am one of the founding members of Utah Infertility Resource Center. I am also an adoptive mother and have personal experience navigating non-genetic parenting, loving a child with developmental trauma and walking my own path of healing from loss and trauma. Before adopting my oldest son, I worked as a social worker in skilled nursing facilities, home health care, and with at-risk children.
I believe the work done in therapy is one of the most important things a person can do. I cherish the opportunity I have to grow with and learn from my clients. I would be honored to be a part of your journey.
